In the past, tenants could easily pass their low rent to a stranger. Now, landlords have more power to say no to a lease transfer.<\/p>\n<p>These laws have a massive impact on property sales prices:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Rent Control Caps:<\/b>\u00a0If laws keep rents very low, a building cannot make a good profit. This makes buyers want to pay less for the building.<\/li>\n<li><b>New Protections:<\/b>\u00a0When laws give landlords more control over their property, buying a rental building becomes more attractive.
